Coaching can help
Our lives are defined not so much by what we cannot do, but by what we won’t do.
This is our true barrier to success. What we won’t do. It could be something as simple as getting up an hour earlier in the morning to exercise or as difficult as standing up in front of a crowded auditorium to give a speech. Take a look at what you have been dreaming about and see if it is really something you want bad enough to do what it takes.
What aren’t you willing to do for your dream? How often is it that what you won’t do is critical to your dream?
“I can’t/won’t speak slowly and clearly so I won’t do public speaking engagements.”
“I can’t/won’t stop eating chocolate every day so I won’t change my eating habits.”
“I can’t/won’t see myself riding a bike in traffic so I won’t join my friend for bike rides.”
We each keep a running list of our limitations, of our fears, tucked away in a corner of our minds. So, when an opportunity for our happiness comes up we pick through our pile of “cannots” and turn away from a chance to stretch our comfort zones. It seems easier to make excuses for settling for less than we deserve because we are not willing to risk believing in ourselves. Coaching helps you identify the truth about what you can’t/won’t do and allow you to adjust what your real dream/goal is. If you are not willing to do what it takes to accomplish your dream/goal is it really what you want?
Examine Why You Won’t
Barriers we create to our success are based on our fears. But what is behind the fear? To put it plainly it boils down to a lack of faith in our abilities.
Feel the fear and do it anyway
Don’t be afraid to learn how strong you really are. Make mistakes, that’s part of the process. Trust that you will be okay.
It’s all a state of mind
If you believe that you cannot, then you won’t!
When you give up on yourself you give up on your dream and your sense of purpose.
